Description
Mansion House Cottage, originally part of The Mansion House, dates to the 17th century, with a front facade reworked in the early 18th century. The building is timber-framed with red brick facing. The east front retains an exposed and overhanging timbered gable with scalloped bargeboards. The north and west fronts are brick-built and show an early 18th-century appearance, with two storeys and an attic. The north elevation has three windows and two dummy windows, while the west elevation has four windows and two dormers. The brickwork is punctuated by a painted stringcourse above each floor, long and short quoins, and keystones over the windows. A brick parapet tops the structure, and the roof is covered with Horsham slate slabs. Original glazing bars remain intact. The doorway features pilasters, an enriched frieze, a projecting cornice, and a recessed door consisting of eight fielded panels.
