Description
The Sick Cow Barn at Bishopstone Farm is a building designed for the isolation of diseased livestock. It contains some components from the 16th century, but the structure primarily dates from the 18th century. The barn features an oak timber frame set on a brick and stone plinth, and it is clad in weatherboarding with a half-hipped roof that is now covered in corrugated iron. Inside, there are two isolation stalls with a brick-paved floor, as well as a separate feed store for sick animals. The barn includes wooden pegs for hanging harnesses or coats. This building is a complete example of a now rare type of agricultural structure.
