Description
Alma Cottage is an 18th-century cottage that has been clad in the 19th century. It is constructed of brick, rendered and channelled to imitate stone, and features a plain tiled roof. The cottage has a tall brick chimney stack on the right side and two gabled, bargeboarded semi-dormers. It is one storey with an attic and has a two-window front with sash windows. The central door is sheltered by a gabled wooden porch, and there is a deep catslide roof at the rear.
Inside, the cottage has a substantial timber frame, with chamfered beams that have lambs-tongue stops in both ground floor rooms. Curved brackets can be seen on the first floor. The roof structure consists of rafters without a ridge piece, but includes some collars and curved braces. There is a fireplace on the ground floor with a chamfered bressumer.
