Description

Penn Cottage and Penn House are originally a timber-framed dwelling of 17th century or earlier date. In 1678, the building was converted into a Quaker Meeting House and was used by William Penn, the founder of the Society of Friends, who lived nearby at Warminghurst. It was later reconverted into a dwelling in the 19th century or since. The building is one storey and attic with three windows and two gabled dormers. The exterior is now faced with stone rubble, red brick, and tile-hanging, with a tiled roof. It has casement windows and a stone inscription reading "Quaker Meeting House 1678".
