Description

Rock Windmill, dated 1827, is a smock-type windmill that has been converted into a house. The roundhouse is constructed of painted brick, with a section above made of tarred weather-boarding that is now covered with bitumastic. The roundhouse has been enlarged to serve as part of the dwelling. It features an octagonal pointed cap with a wooden platform surrounding it. The sweeps and fantail are missing, and there are modern windows installed. There is no machinery inside. John Ireland, a composer, formerly lived here.
