Description

The Old Mill is a windmill, dating from about 1820, that has been converted into a house. Originally built as a smock mill on a stone base, it operated until 1910 when the upper section was demolished. The remaining structure was converted into a house after 1960. What survives is the original octagonal base of two storeys, constructed from Wealden sandstone and with red brick dressings. A lower portion of the smock, faced with weather-boarding and topped with a modern projecting cornice, forms an additional storey. There is one casement window on each side of the building.
