Description
The Gateway and Porters Lodge to the north-west of Ewhurst Manor is an early 14th-century structure made of stone. It features a carriage arch flanked by buttresses, with a room above that has a gable and a cross-shaped loop window. The roof of the archway is constructed of brick and has ribbed stone vaulting. Behind the gateway is the porter's lodge, which is a T-shaped building of lower elevation. This lodge is built from Wealden sandstone rubble and has a tiled roof that is timbered beneath. The west side of the lodge includes a trefoil-headed lancet, while each side has an old door that connects to the center, complete with its original bolt. A photograph of the structure is held in the National Buildings Record.
