Description

Brook House is a house with a complex history, dating back to a medieval open hall, with significant additions dating from the 16th century and around 1900. The main range has two bays and originally comprised an open hall. It is two storeys high, with two windows. The ground floor is constructed of red brick, while the upper floor is tile-hung. The roof is covered with Horsham slabs. Casement windows are present. A 19th-century wing with a tiled roof was added to the north, with a gable end to each wing. The house retains a crown post roof and smoke blackened rafters, along with remains of sooted wattle and daub partitions. A stone chimney stack, likely dating from the 16th or early 17th century, backs onto the hall.
