Description

The building is an apple store located to the rear of Potters Field in West Grinstead, dating from the 18th century. It is timber-framed with brick infill laid in stretcher bond and is raised off the ground on six brick piers. The front is filled in with brick and features tiling between the courses. The roof is hipped and tiled. The door at the front retains three planks of the original four-plank design, complete with two pintle hinges and an iron hinge. Inside, the walls are plastered. The roof was restored in the 20th century with new rafters and a new ridgepiece. Originally, the building had wooden racks, but these became dilapidated and were removed. This structure is a rare survival of a rural type.
