Description
Cheals Garden Centre is a 16th century timber-framed farmhouse with an L-shaped plan. It has two storeys and features old tiled roofs with gablets. The east and west ranges have a pitched roof that is hipped at the east end. The north side displays exposed timber-framing, while the south side is faced with brick on the lower storey and tile-hung on the upper storey. At the west end, there is a wing that projects southward, featuring a tile-hung upper storey and a very steeply pitched roof with a fine brick chimney stack from around 1600 rising from the ridge. The roof has hips at the north and south ends below the peaks of the ridge. The building includes 19th century wooden casements and a doorcase in a weather porch. Inside, there are exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace. The roof has not been seen.
