Description
Friars Gate House, located at the corner of Chichester Priory Road and Little London, is a 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall with an attic and features five windows. It has a hipped tiled roof and two large, tall brick chimney stacks. The house includes two dormer windows with segmental heads. The central part of the façade slightly projects and consists of three window bays, topped with a pediment that has a semi-circular window in the tympanum. The building is constructed of red brick and has a cornice with modillions above the first floor. The sash windows are set in shallow reveals and feature rubbed brick voussoirs with a central keystone; all windows retain their glazing bars. A flight of two steps leads up to an elegant doorway, which has six fielded panels and a rectangular fanlight above. The door is set within reveals and is framed by a doorcase with fluted Doric columns on plinths, a frieze with triglyphs, and a rectangular pediment.
