Description

Crouchland is a house built by Henry Stradwick in 1652. It is an L-shaped timber-framed building featuring the date 1652 and the initials "H.S." on it. The west front has coursed stone on the ground floor and is tile-hung above, with a slight overhang in between. The south front is faced with red brick, with some tile-hanging on the first floor. The east wall has exposed timbering with herring-bone red brick infilling. The house has a tiled roof and three brick chimney stacks with square bases and diamond-shaped shafts that are truncated like cones. It has casement windows and is two storeys high with three windows.
