Description
These are early 19th-century terraced cottages located on the west side of Queen Street. The front of number 1 is rendered, while the end wall of number 5 is of modern brick. The buildings are constructed of nodular flint with red brick dressings, and feature red brick extensions to the rear. They have tiled gambrel roofs, with number 1 having a hipped roof. Red brick chimneys are present. The roofs have modillioned eaves cornices. The buildings are two storeys high, with attics, and each cottage has one window range and one door. All windows are segment-headed wooden casements with glazing bars, except for the ground floor window of number 1, which has diagonal leaded panes. The doors are planked, with a latticed window inset in the door of number 1. Weatherboarded attic dormers are present, with wooden bargeboards, casement windows (number 3’s are iron), and lead glazing bars (number 1's and number 5's have diagonal leaded glazing). The chimney of number 1 is slightly off-centre of the ridge, square in plan with axially placed buttresses and no pots.
