Description
The Friends' Meeting House is a mid-19th century L-shaped building located on Church Street. It features cobbles with brick dressings and quoins. The main hall has three bays, with two large pointed windows and a pointed arch over the entrance, which is slightly set forward on the left side. The windows include paired lancets. At the east end, there is a two-storey wing with a canted bay facing the street. Above the entrance, the words 'Friends' Meeting House' are painted on stucco. The quoins include some grey headers. On the west side, there is a modern entrance above which are two twin lancets set in moulded frames. This building was originally constructed as a Penny School in 1835 or shortly thereafter. The Friends' Meeting House, along with Nos 7 to 15 (odd), forms a group.
