Description
The Parish Church of St James is a Norman and 13th-century church located on Manor Road in Lancing. The church’s fabric includes a chancel, a north vestry, a central tower, a nave with aisles, and a south porch. The south porch is of Transitional Norman style. The remainder of the church dates to the 13th century, with later windows added. The uppermost courses of the tower were removed in 1618, and a pyramidal roof was added, originally covered with Horsham slabs, though some of these have since been replaced with tiles. The exterior is constructed of flint cobbles, partly pebbledashed.
