Description

The Thatcher headstone, located approximately 6 metres south of the east end of the south chapel at the Church of St Peter and St Paul, dates from around 1741. It is made of stone and features an elaborately-shaped top with relief carvings of a winged skull, an hourglass, a trumpet, and a bible. The inscription, which has worn over time, commemorates Thomas Thatcher, who died in 1741, and his second wife, Jane, who died in 1740.
