Description

This building, now divided into four dwellings, is a house dating from the 15th or early 16th century, which has been extended and altered over time. The construction is a mix of timber framing with painted brick infill and painted brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a plain tile roof. It was likely originally a three-bay hall house, with a timber-framed bay added to the rear left, probably in the 18th century or earlier, and a brick bay added to the right in the early 19th century.

The building is two storeys high and has four bays. The timber frame is visible in the third bay, mostly on the first floor, showing medium-sized square panels and arched bracing to the wall plate. Each dwelling has a boarded entrance door on the ground floor; the door to the right-hand bay is within a brick arch. Each also has a 20th-century three-light, small-pane window on the ground floor, and a smaller two-light window on the first floor. The roof is hipped, with a lower ridge over the second bay and a gablet at the right-hand end. There are external stacks located at the right-hand end, forward of the ridge in the third bay, and between the first and second bays.

At the rear, the timber framing of the two central bays consists of large panels on the first floor at the centre, and arched braces on the left. A late 20th-century wing has been added, which is not of particular architectural interest. A timber-framed extension on the right-hand side has a two-light diamond-leaded window on the first floor.

The left return has brickwork to the ground floor of a timber-framed extension. The first-floor framing features unjowled posts, a mid-rail, and arched braces. The interior of the building was not inspected.
