Description
The gateway and walls to Halls Place, originally listed as the garden gateway at Halls Place, date from the 17th century and were relocated here in 1910 from near Reading. The gateway features sandstone Doric style pilasters on plinths with pinnacles above the cornice, which are now enclosed in a brick parapet. There is a central segmental head pediment above the gate, which has a stone surround with a bolection profile. The open wooden gate has turned balusters in its upper half. The curved brick quadrant walls are approximately 5 feet 3 inches high at the ends and rise to about 10 feet high over the gate. Coursed sandstone is used at either end of the brick walls, extending for approximately 10 metres on each side.
