Description

Godstone Place is a house, originally built in the late 18th century and significantly altered in the 19th century. The front facade was renewed and the building was extended during this period. The main block is three storeys high, while a two-storey wing is attached to the left. The exterior is rough-cast on a rendered plinth, with hipped slate roofs and a rendered stack at the left end, and further end stacks on the right-hand main block. A rendered plat band runs above the ground and first floors of the main block, and the ends feature rusticated quoins. The main block has three early 19th-century glazing bar sash windows on each of the first and second floors. The left-hand range has three glazing bar sash windows on its first floor. A central six-panelled door, set within a panelled reveal, is topped by a cast iron transome light with a traceried design. This door is sheltered by a flat portico supported by two columns with lotus-style capitals and paterae in the frieze.
