Description

The Memorial Cross at Chobham Common was erected in 1901. It features a rendered cement base with an aggregate rocky plinth and granite above. The cross shaft tapers to a circular top, with the arms of the cross carved in a roundel. An oval coiled rope pattern decorates the shaft. The cross, standing approximately 20 feet high on its plinth, serves as a prominent landmark. It is listed for its historical significance, marking the spot where Queen Victoria reviewed 8,129 troops on June 21, 1853, prior to the establishment of Aldershot.
