Description

Cambridge Cottage and The Red Cottage are a pair of houses dating from the mid to late 18th century. They are constructed of red brick with gauged brick flat arches and have an old tile roof. A moulded wooden eaves cornice runs along most of the eaves. The left bay and the two bays to the right are slightly set back from the main facade, and the building features five chimneys arranged irregularly. There are 1:4:2 windows across the front. Cambridge Cottage has sash windows with vertical glazing bars, while The Red Cottage has similar sash windows with glazing bars. Each cottage has a roughly central half-glazed door with a simple portico featuring columns with cushion-type capitals. Weatherboarded extensions are present: a lean-to on the left, and a two-storey extension on the right. The interior of Cambridge Cottage includes a panelled dado on the ground floor, and The Red Cottage is partly panelled.
