Description

The Coppers is a house, originally built in the early 20th century by Sir Edwin Lutyens, and subsequently divided into three separate dwellings. The exterior is whitewashed brick with tile dressings, with tile hanging above to the right, and a plain tiled roof that sweeps out to eaves. Gablets are present at the ends of the roof, and a catslide roof slopes to the left. Front stacks are located to the left and right, featuring gablets on the shafts and corbelled tops. There is a corbelled ridge stack to the left of centre and a cross ridge stack to the right. Three hip-roofed dormers are to the left of centre. The windows are leaded, with one casement window to the first floor right and two three-light windows below. A studded and ribbed double door is located under a round arch with diamond-shaped glazed panels to the left, set back under a roundel within a pentice. A glazed door is situated to the left of centre, also under a round arch with flanking lights. A ground floor window is located to the right of this door. A corner window is on the ground floor right, within a range that is set back to the right end. A half-hipped, single-storey extension is present on the return front, with a further door.
