Description
This group consists of three monumental headstones and three footstones located approximately 10 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Nicholas. They date from the mid to later 18th century, with the headstone in the centre dated 1768 and the one at the south end dated 1757. All the stones are made of limestone and are arranged in a short north-south row, with the footstones positioned behind them. Each headstone features a shaped top and is carved with winged cherubs' heads, with the centre and left stones having two cherubs each, while the right stone has one. The stones are also decorated with scrolls and flourishes. Most of the inscriptions are difficult to read, but the footstone associated with the right headstone is inscribed "I S 1757".
