Description
There are two tomb chests located approximately 5 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Nicholas. These tomb chests date from the mid-18th century and are made of limestone. They are positioned parallel to each other and about 1 metre apart. Both are designed in a classical style, featuring flat rectangular bases and moulded plinths. The southern tomb chest has sockets for former railings at its base, vase-shaped corners, and raised fielded panels on the sides and ends. The northern tomb chest has rusticated corners with plain sides and ends. Both tomb chests have eroded inscriptions and were overgrown with ivy during the survey conducted in 1988.
