Description

Appstree Farmhouse and Derwent Cottage is a house that has been divided, dating from the 16th century with 20th-century extensions added to the front and rear. The building is timber framed with brick infilling on the first floor. The left-hand return front is whitewashed, while the ground floor on the left has rendered cladding and the ground floor on the right features 20th-century brick extensions. The roofs are plain tiled, hipped, and lower over the older part of the house. The original structure is L-shaped with extensions to the rear left.

The house has two storeys and features three framed bays on the front, with an end stack on the right and a front stack positioned to the right of centre. The first floor bracing is exposed at the left-hand corner. There are three 20th-century casement windows on the first floor and three windows on the ground floor in the extension across the front right of the facade, along with an additional window on the ground floor left. A 20th-century door is located to the left on the return wall of the front extensions, which is sheltered by a flat hood supported on braces. There is also a further glazed door in a pentice porch at the left-hand return front, where it meets the rear extensions.
