Description

The Manor House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with an extension added to the front in the early 20th century. The original wing features red and blue brick, while the front is clad in whitewashed render. It has a plain tiled roof that is hipped across the front. The building has a T-shaped plan with the older wing at the rear.

The house is two storeys high, with a stack at the rear left and a ridge stack at the centre of the new front. The old wing has three bays, and its original symmetrical front has been altered. The windows show mixed styles: on the first floor, there are three windows, including a glazing bar sash window to the left, a single casement window in the centre, and a 3-light casement window to the right. On the ground floor, there are two glazing bar sash windows to the left and casement doors to the right. The taller wing runs parallel to the rear.

The new wing has a regular design, featuring angle rusticated quoins and a modillion eaves cornice. It includes three tripartite glazing bar sash windows with cambered heads on the first floor, a plat band above the ground floor, and two windows below. There is a central flat-roofed porch with angle pilasters and a panelled door. The house was once the residence of William Cobbett, the author of "Rural Rides."
