Description

This is a house, originally dating back to the 16th century, that has been extended and divided into separate dwellings over the centuries. A late 18th-century extension runs across the front, and a 20th-century extension is situated to the right and at the rear. The core of the building is timber-framed and has been clad in colour-washed brick, while the front range is of taller brown brick with a hip roof covered in plain tiles. The front of the building has two storeys, sitting on a brick plinth with a moulded edge. Moulded wooden eaves and end stacks are present. The front facade is regularly composed with six bays, featuring six 12-pane sash windows on the first floor and taller 15-pane windows on the ground floor, all set within gauged brick surrounds. A half-glazed door is set within a flat-roofed Doric portico with two front columns and pilasters behind, flanked by single sash windows. A rendered pentice roof bay is to the right, with a door in the right-hand return front (associated with No. 2). Brick wings extend to the rear, and a single-storey, 20th-century extension is set back to the left end.
