Hospital water tower. 1901 by Clifford Smith for London County Council. Red brick in Flemish bond with dressings of darker red brick and ashlar; plain tile roof. In Arts and Crafts style. 4-stage gabled tower, square on plan with stack to north side, encased by single-storey outbuildings on 3 sides which are altered or additions and are not of special interest. Ashlar band at 1st floor level; moulded cornices to 1st and 2nd floors. Round-arched, keyed openings, the windows with projecting stone sills moulded brick aprons and small-pane casements. North side has blocked doorway on left with window above on each floor, tapering rectangular stack rises against right-hand side having oculus at base and rib to each side of upper stage, the former coping removed. Other sides have paired windows and the south side a lunette to top stage with keyed oculus above. Roof has moulded kneelers and coping to raised verges, and tiny dormer windows with oversailing gabled roofs.
