Description

The Club is a clubhouse built around 1912 by Sir Aston Webb, located in Whiteley Village. It features grey brick with red brick dressings and a plain tiled roof, with quoined stacks positioned to the left and right of the center. The building has a central range with gable front end wings and is a single storey structure. It includes glazing bar sash windows in the outer gabled bays, which are framed by red brick quoined and pedimented surrounds. The central range has four casement windows, and the main entrance consists of paired part-glazed doors topped by an iron lantern, set behind a colonnade of four piers on dado walling that runs across the front. Whiteley Village was established by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores to provide affordable housing for elderly individuals and was designed on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson, utilizing prominent architects of the time.
