Description
This is a group of six chest tombs located approximately 20 meters southwest of the south transept and 30 meters south of the nave of the Church of St. Mary. The tombs date from the early 18th century to the early 19th century.
The early 19th century Lankshear tomb to the east features paneling with a moulded plinth, cornice, and top. Two early 18th century tombs to the north are both plain, with revealed inscription panels and splayed plinths and cornices. The eastern tomb commemorates William Wright, who died in 1755, and Elizabeth Wright, who died in 1722. The western tomb commemorates Thomas and Susan Wright, along with Robert Wright, who died in 1701.
Another tomb, which has corner balusters and fielded panels, commemorates John Wright, who died in 1797. There is also a plain early 18th century Wright tomb to the west, and the early 19th century Wright tomb to the southwest has panelled sides along with a moulded plinth and cornice.
