Description

The building comprises two houses, likely originally a main house with a service wing. Kencot Lodge, positioned further back on the left, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century and has been altered. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a stone slate roof, and has rendered ridge chimneys. The two-storey, two-bay facade features two 20th-century bay windows with wooden casements and hipped tile roofs in the centre, flanked by smaller three-light casements with wooden lintels. The first floor has larger three-light wooden casements with glazing bars and old wooden lintels. A later wing provides access to the rear. North Lodge, added around 1820-30 as the main house, has a dressed stone front, rubble stone gables, and a stone slate roof. It features flanking ashlar chimneys with attached square shafts and moulded cornices. The two-storey and attic building has a three-bay fenestration. A rubble stone plinth has chamfered coping. The left bays contain three-pane sashes in flush stone surrounds with beaded edges. The right bay features a narrower two-pane sash in a similar surround above the entrance door. Two small gabled roof dormers contain two-light barred wooden casements. The entrance has a renewed 20th-century four-panelled door with a semi-circular radiating fanlight, set within a moulded stone architrave surround with a depressed head.
