Description

Widford Manor House is a manor house that likely dates back to the early 17th century, featuring a cross-wing on the left that is dated 1696 according to a sundial located on the ground floor. The building has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed stone rubble, with the cross-wing made of coursed squared stone, and has a stone slate roof that is hipped at the cross-wing.

The manor is two stories high and has a five-window range, along with a two-storey-and-attic cross-wing that also has five windows. There is a six-panel door to the right of the cross-wing, framed by a moulded stone surround. The ground floor features a three-light stone mullion window to the right of the main range, which has a stone hood mould, as well as three-light wood mullion windows to the left and center of the main range, both with stone hood moulds. The first floor has single-light casements on the left and right, and a two-light stone mullion window with a stone hood mould to the right of center. There are also two-light wood mullion windows with stone hood moulds on the first floor to the left of center and in the center. A 20th-century casement window is located on the ground floor left of the cross-wing, along with a stone cross-window on the first floor right of the cross-wing and a wood cross-window on the first floor left of the cross-wing, both featuring stone hood moulds. The cross-wing has a wood dentil cornice.

Inside, there is an 18th-century open-well staircase that leads from the ground floor to the attic, featuring a baluster balustrade and a moulded wood handrail. The ground floor also has an open fireplace located to the left of center, and the roof is supported by trenched purlins.
