Description
The building is a garage and attached kennels located at Asthall Manor Estate, dating from around 1919. It was designed by Charles Bateman for Lord Redesdale. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble and features a stone tile hipped roof, with a small stone lateral stack at the rear.
The building has a U-shaped plan, with a large garage at the center and projecting wings on either side that contain additional garages, creating a covered courtyard in between. On the right side, there are two kennels with railed runs in front.
The exterior is single-storey, with the projecting wings featuring large plank double doors with strap hinges. The center section has sliding doors and a glazed canopy over the courtyard, which includes a pump and hoses on the side walls. The sides and rear of the building have three-light casements with leaded panes and cambered arches.
Inside, there is an inspection pit in the west wing and a boiler room located in the northeast corner.
