Description
The stable and cottage, located approximately 10 meters southwest of Asthall Farmhouse, are notable structures from different periods. The stable dates from the mid to late 18th century, while the cottage was built in the early 19th century. Both buildings are constructed of coursed rubble limestone with dressed quoins and feature stone slate roofs.
The stable is lofted and has coped gables. Its yard-facing side includes small wooden windows flanking a central stable door, all with dressed stone jambs and wooden lintels. To the right, there are external stone steps leading to a gabled loft door, and a small gabled loft door is located at the center of the rear wall.
The cottage is a single storey with an attic and consists of two small bays. It features a dressed stone chimney at the southwest end. The yard-facing side has a board door with a rubble stone segmental arch, while the road-facing side has wooden casements: a three-light window on the ground floor to the left and a two-light window in gabled semi-dormers. Another board door is situated to the right. Both ground floor openings have segmental arches made of dressed stone.
