Description
Asthall Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with slobbered pointing and features stone slate roofs, along with rebuilt rubble stone and concrete ridge chimneys. The building is L-shaped, with two storeys and an attic, and has a four-bay front wing, where the left bay is likely a late 18th to 19th century addition.
The two left bays contain 20th century paired barred wooden casements with wooden lintels, and the ground floor windows are in altered openings. The right bays feature 20th century canted bay windows with barred wooden casements on the ground floor, and above are boxed three-pane sashes with wooden lintels. There are four gabled roof dormers, each with two-light wooden casements.
On the left end, there is a lean-to extension with a 20th century half-glazed door, and another door is located in the right gable end. The rear wing has been altered and extended in the 20th century, featuring 20th century wooden casements with concrete lintels. Inside, the farmhouse has heavy chamfered spine beams that are keyed for later plaster covering.
