Description
The School House, formerly known as Burford Grammar School, is a building dating from 1886 that was originally a cottage hospital and is now used for school staff accommodation. It features a rough faced rubble front, which may have been added to earlier fabric, and is topped with a Cotswold stone roof and two ashlar chimneys. The building has two storeys and an attic, with one flat-top dormer. On the first floor, there are four casement windows, while the ground floor has two angled bays and an additional window to the left. A glazed door, located in the second bay from the right, is sheltered by a pent hood supported by corbelled brackets. The gable end facing the road displays the date in the apex and includes a range of wooden ovolo mullion windows with wooden lintels, featuring stopped beads on the lintel and jambs.
