Description
The stables and coach house, now part of Cokethorpe School, date from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble and feature a hipped stone slate roof with stone end stacks. The central block is two stories high and has a three-window range. It includes three keyed semi-circular arches for a central through-entry, with flanking blocked openings that have similarly arched early 20th-century windows. The first-floor windows are topped with keyed flat stone arches. The hipped roof is crowned by a domed bell cupola with a ball finial.
On either side of the central block are one-story wings, each with a three-window range and similar arched windows. A keyed semi-circular arched doorway connects the stables to the coach house on the left, which is built from similar materials. The coach house has an ashlar front featuring a semi-circular arch with a keyblock and moulded imposts above double doors, as well as a flat stone arch over a loft door above. There is also a similar arched doorway set in a limestone rubble wall that extends approximately 10 meters to Cokethorpe School. The interior has not been inspected.
