Description
The building is a former dovecote that also served as a coach-house and stabling, which has been converted into a house in the 20th century. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has been carefully altered in the 20th century. The structure is made of coursed limestone rubble and features stone slate roofs.
The tall central bay, which houses the dovecote over the coach-house, is gabled on all four sides and has a gabled weatherboarded glover topped with a weathervane. The front gable includes a high boarded loft door, four arched dove entries, a 20th-century single leaded light with a concrete lintel below, and double coach-house doors set in a depressed arch of dressed stone, complete with a keyblock. Flanking the central bay are 20th-century rainwater heads marked with the initials DS.
On either side of the central bay are lower stable wings, each with roofs hipped towards the far ends. The left wing features two 20th-century leaded single lights and a stable-type door with a small glazed panel. The right wing has a similar single light and a half-glazed door with leaded glazing. All openings in these wings have wooden lintels, and each wing includes a small hipped roof dormer with a single leaded casement.
