Description
Pytts House is a farmhouse, now a house, likely dating from the mid-16th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble with a stone slate roof and stone stacks, one at the left end and another on the ridge towards the right-hand side. The building was originally a hall-house with a through-passage. The main façade is a two-storey, five-bay range. A ribbed wooden door is located on the right-hand side, set within a four-centred arched stone surround featuring cut spandrels. The windows are of irregular placement, most being casements with wooden lintels. At the rear of the building, 17th-century wood mullion and transom windows are visible on the first floor. The interior includes a 19th-century straight-flight staircase connecting the ground and first floors, along with a trench-purlin roof. Stone four-centred arched fireplaces are present in some rooms, and a cobble-stone floor remains in the through passage on the right-hand side.
