Description

Waynes Close is a house dating from the early to mid-17th century, which was restored in the early 20th century. It features coursed and part squared rubble on a moulded plinth, with a Cotswold stone roof and an ashlar chimney that has a moulded cornice. The front is gabled in the Cotswold style and the building has two storeys and an attic. It consists of two bays with mullioned windows of two, three, and four lights, featuring leaded casements from the 17th or 18th century that have been restored on the first floor, while the attic and ground floor have 20th-century windows. The attic has been rebuilt using machine-cut stone. A former doorway on the right has been converted into a four-light mullioned window, with the entrance now located in a timber-framed pentice on the east side. The house has a T-plan layout with a gabled rear wing, which includes wooden cross mullion windows (one of which is an original three-light) and stone mullions on the ground floor.
