Description
South Lodge is a house built in 1844, as indicated by a datestone on the rear. The exterior features roughcast walls with limestone ashlar dressings and an old fish-scale tile roof, along with rendered brick stacks. The building is one storey with an attic and has a three-window range.
At the center, there is a Dutch-gabled two-storey porch, which includes a label mould over a one-light cavetto-moulded window and a four-centred moulded doorway. To the left of the porch, there is a label mould over a square-headed cavetto-moulded doorway, and to the right, a label mould over a two-light stone-mullioned cavetto-moulded window. The roof has two gabled dormers and is topped with a Dutch gable. There is a ridge stack to the left, which was previously an end stack, and a lateral stack at the rear. The right gable wall features a similar two-light window.
At the back, there is a one-storey, one-bay wing that has a label mould over a similar one-light window. Mid-20th century extensions have been added to the left of the front. The interior has not been inspected.
