Description

Church Cottage is an early 18th-century house located on the north side of Church Street in Shellingford. The house is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, with a stone slate roof, except for a 20th-century plain tiled roof to the rear outshut. It has brick stacks, including a rear external stack built of limestone rubble with a brick chimney.

The house follows a two-unit plan with a rear right outshut. It is two storeys high and has a two-window front. A late 19th-century porch shelters a central 19th-century four-panelled door, which has a timber lintel above it. The windows are mostly 20th-century casements, with a late 19th-century casement on the ground floor to the right. A gabled dormer window with a 20th-century casement sits over the door. The roof is gabled with a late 19th-century stack at the right end and an early 19th-century lateral stack at the rear with a moulded brick capping. The interior remains uninspected.
