Description
Greys Court, the Cromwellian Stables located approximately 40 metres east, is a building of uncertain purpose that now serves as a tea room. It dates from the 17th century and is constructed of red brick with a plain old tile roof and a brick stack. The building has a one-unit plan, stands two storeys high with an attic, and features a two-window range. The main front faces west and has an entry on the right return. It includes three 2-light stone mullioned windows on the ground floor, two 2-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, and a single 2-light stone mullioned window in the cross gable of the attic to the right. There is a lateral stack at the rear. The right return has a studded door, likely from the 17th century, with a wooden surround. Inside, there is 17th-century panelling in the ground and first floor rooms, adorned with painted arabesque friezes. The ground floor features a fireplace with a stone surround and a flattened arch, along with herring-bone tiles above. There is also a 17th-century fireplace on the first floor and a wooden spiral staircase.
