Description

Rycoate Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and early/mid 18th centuries. It comprises a main range and two adjoining rear wings. The 4-window range to the left of the front facade was built in the 18th century using brick on a limestone rubble plinth; it has a storey band and tall first-floor windows with renewed casements. The ground floor entrance is partially obscured by a 20th-century single-storey extension. This section of the house has flanking brick stacks and a hipped roof dormer. The lower 17th-century range to the right has been brick-cased and features three casements at ground floor, with two and three lights each, having brick segmental arches. It also has two gabled dormers and flanking stacks. The rear wings are a mix of timber framing, limestone rubble, and brick infill, with half-hipped roofs. Inside the 18th-century range are chamfered beams and a moulded plank-and-vee door. The older range retains exposed timber framing and straight windbraces in the roof.
