Description
No. 7 Norman Avenue is a house built in the 1890s, showcasing an eclectic late Victorian style. The structure is made of red brick with stone dressings and features sham timber framing. It has a clay plain tile roof with gabled ends and pierced ridge tiles. The plan is double depth, with the entrance and stair hall located on the right, a drawing room on the left, and a dining room along with a service wing at the back.
The house stands two storeys high with an attic and presents an asymmetrical two-bay front. The ground floor is finished in ashlar, featuring a canted bay window on the left, a Gothic window, and an elliptical arch doorway on the right, all beneath a tiled canopy supported by stone brackets. On the first floor, there is a wooden canted bay on the left, flanked by gauged brick paired pilasters. These support large moulded brick corbel brackets that hold up a timber-framed gable with moulded bargeboards and a four-light window. To the right, there is a Gothic window and bracketed eaves, and above the corner, a small belvedere with Gothic windows and a steep pyramidal roof topped with a finial. The windows feature stained glass and top lights with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
