Description

No. 6 Norman Avenue is a house built in the 1890s, featuring red brick with terracotta dressings and roughcast coved eaves and panels in the gables. The roof is made of clay plain tiles with gabled ends, pierced ridge tiles, and ornate pierced bargeboards. The building showcases an eclectic late Victorian style.

The plan is double depth, with the entrance and stair hall on the right, a drawing room on the left, and a dining room along with a service wing behind. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has an asymmetrical two-bay front. On the left, there is a projecting bay that is bowed on the ground floor, featuring elliptical gauged brick window arches, panel tracery, and shafts between. Above this, there is a wooden bay with pargetted panels and flanking brick pilasters, topped with a terracotta frieze and a half-glazed gable adorned with wavy pierced bargeboards.

To the right, there is a porch supported by wooden baluster columns, with glazed doors and a small wooden oriel above, complete with a pediment. A gabled dormer sits over the corner on moulded brick corbels, featuring ornate bargeboards with finials. The top lights of the windows include stained glass.

In front of the house, there is an elaborate cast-iron gate with cast-iron gate piers topped with ball finials.
