Description

This is an urn and pedestal located approximately 40 meters north of Nuneham House, likely dating from the 18th century. Made of limestone, the urn features a wide bowl that is richly decorated with bearded reclining heads and bunches of grapes, with intertwined handles. The design is probably inspired by a Roman model. The square plinth has a moulded cap and base, with panelled sides. Nuneham Park, where this urn is situated, is included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade I.
