Description

This is a mid-17th century house, with a later 19th-century addition to the front centre and 20th-century additions. The house has a large timber frame with brick infill on the left side, painted stone rubble on the right, painted brick to the ground floor centre, and a false timber frame to the first floor centre. The roof is covered in old plain tiles. There is a brick ridge stack on the left side and an end stack on the right. The original plan consisted of two units, with a cross-wing to the left. The cross wing is two storeys and an attic, with a four-window front. The windows are a mix of casements and wood mullion windows. A 20th-century plank door leads to a 20th-century lean-to on the right side. The rear of the house has painted stone rubble on the left, painted brick on the cross-wing, and a 20th-century sun room on the ground floor left, incorporating mid-17th century wood mullion windows. The left return has large timber framing with painted brick and rendered infill, and is two storeys and an attic with a three-window range, featuring casement and wood mullion windows. A gabled timber-framed staircase dormer is located centrally. Inside, there is a wood winder staircase leading to the attic of the cross wing, a double queen post roof construction, and mid-17th century brick fireplaces on both the ground and first floors of the cross wing.
