STANTON ST. JOHN WOODPERRY SP51SE 2/180 Pavilion approx. 50m. SE of 18/07/63 Woodperry House (Formerly listed as Woodperry House with garden and entrance gates and screens)

GV II*

Garden pavilion. Early C18. Limestone ashlar and rubble. Square plan. Single storey. Ashlar front, with 2 round-arched doorways, has a plinth plus plain bands at springing line and immediately above the projecting keyblocks. The plain parapet carries a central square pedestal with wrought-iron weathervane. The doors have radiating fanlights and thick glazing bars above a fielded panel. Left side has a blocked window with plain rectangular architrave; window with similar architrave in rear wall. Interior: Contains a fireplace. One of a pair of pavilions flanking the parterre at the rear of Woodperry House (q.v.). (J. Cornforth, Country Life, Vol. 129, pp.18-21 and 66-9; Buildings of England: Oxfordshire, p.855).
