Description

The buildings at 2 and 4 St Andrew’s Lane comprise a house, likely originating in the 17th century, with a later addition. Number 4 probably dates to the 17th century, and Number 2 is a subsequent addition. Number 2 is constructed of ashlar with a tiled roof, featuring modern brick chimney shafts. It has one three-light casement window with shutters and a substantial wooden lintel, alongside one modern casement window set within a boxed frame. A modern varnished front doorway has been added. Number 4 is similarly constructed, with a modern red tile roof and two rebuilt gabled attic dormers. The south stack has been refaced with cement and a modern brick shaft, while the north stack is entirely rebuilt in modern red brick. At the rear, on the west side, is a hipped gabled staircase projection, now rendered with roughcast. The areas on either side of this projection have been filled in with later additions, which feature a pent roof.
